How Water Came into being.

The origin of Earth's water is a fascinating scientific question, and scientists still haven't reached a definitive answer. Today, biological science has advanced significantly, but research is still ongoing on how water came to Earth. Was there any creature inhabiting Earth before us that created water, or is there another reason behind it? We know that three fourths of the Earth is water, with a significant portion being saline water, while only 3% is freshwater.

It is clear that only this 3% portion is suitable for drinking for humans, yet today, we are depleting this freshwater resource by unsustainable usage. If the current rate of water usage continues, experts predict that by 2025, clean water will not be available in most of the countries, and people will fear each drop. Many say that while scientists claim that the world's water has remained constant since time immemorial, there is also a fear of water scarcity.

The simple answer to this is that while the "water" has remained constant on Earth, the "clean water" compared to before is very limited today. We are all using water, but very few are thinking about how to create clean water. But can we still produce water in the same way as it came to Earth almost 3 billion years ago? The answer to this cannot be given with 100% certainty, but it is undeniable that the theories proposed by scientists regarding the existence of water hold truth. The theories proposed by scientists are as follows:

First theory:

Water came into existence on Earth as a result of chemical reactions. According to this theory, when the Earth came into existence about 3 billion years ago and had already passed approximately one billion years, and the Earth was gradually cooling down, water came into existence due to chemical reactions. It's worth remembering that the Earth also came into existence from the same cloud of hydrogen and helium gas from which the sun and other planets of the solar system were formed.

In the beginning, the Earth was very hot, so atoms were combining with each other to form new molecules (compounds). But as the Earth cooled down, different atoms combined, and new molecules were formed. These molecules combined with each other, and even finer molecules were formed. The first living cell, which was the first living organism, took in the hydrogen sulfide gas emitted from the volcanic eruption and the hydrogen carbonates present in the Earth as food and continued to obtain energy from it.

Every 20 minutes, these small organisms would split into 1 or 2, and their population grew rapidly, and many species were born, as the evolutionary process had begun. Therefore, changes were occurring in the succeeding generations, and they began to produce oxygen gas in space instead of hydrogen sulfide gas.

As their population increased, and with the increase of oxygen gas, they took oxygen gas instead of food, and their population died out and disappeared. Slowly, due to the oxygen gas, the "ozone layer" around the Earth began to form, along with the oxygen, other minerals present in the Earth were mixed, and as a result of chemical reactions, the molecule of water, which consists of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom, came into existence.

This process is called chemical reduction because both hydrogen (present in minerals) and free oxygen (in space) were abundant, so water began to form rapidly, and all the cavities on Earth were filled with water, and the process of cloud formation and rainfall began, which cooled the Earth and various types of living organisms got the opportunity to flourish.

Second theory:

Water came to Earth through meteorites. In the 20th century, scientists learned a lot about meteorites and celestial bodies through meteorites and bright stars. We know that meteorites are rocky materials that came into existence with the formation of the solar system, and if we say that they are trash remaining on planets and the sun's formation, it won't be wrong. When scientists observed the falling meteorites on Earth, they also investigated what these stones were made of.

With their examination, not only did we get a lot of information about the condition of the Earth and other planets, but it was also discovered that there is water in them! Since until that time, scientists had not seen water on any other planet in the solar system besides Earth, they were amazed. Scientists also found out from research that for several years after the formation of the Earth, it continued to rain on Earth, and it is quite possible that these planets brought water to Earth.

This does not mean at all that the presence of water on Earth is only due to the rain of meteorites on planets, but a significant portion of this water came into existence due to chemical reduction, and some portion came due to these planets. In any case, neither of these theories can be said to be wrong because both are supported by evidence. We all know the importance of water in our lives; we can survive for up to 5 days without water. Therefore, we should conserve clean water so that we can remain calm ourselves and our future generations can live a better life.
